The Charity of Lark in the Park, as it is more commonly known, was registered with the Charity Commission in the November of 2001.
Its aim in the beginning was to purchase a minibus with adaptation for wheelchair use. This would be used by children and young people in the local area to access facilities and services, which may well have been out of reach before. It was also used in the respite holidays that Lark in the Park have run.
The Charity has always been managed and run by volunteers, and they are committed to the long-term visions of Lark in the Park. Through their support and time Lark in the Park is scaling many heights of fundraising that in the beginning we could only have dreamt of.
The first aim of the Charity has reached fruition from joining forces with the Variety Club of Great Britain, Lark in the Park have provided a minibus which is based at the South Downs School in Eastbourne.
Lark in the Park has also provided many holidays at various locations, which has been enjoyed by many young people. In 2005 the first Christmas Party was held by Lark in the Park, and we continue to hold successful parties.
You may well be thinking that now the Charity is running along as it was hoped that the team might sit back a little and enjoy the fruits of their labour. Nothing of the sort!!
Fundraising is a core element of funding Lark in the Park, and there are many a fevered brow thinking up new ideas, planning them and also the running of them. Lark in the Park strives to produce new and novel ways of fundraising, and this is what people remember us for.
We hope that this has helped in your quest to find out what and who Lark in the Park is all about, but please do not hesitate to ask more questions! Please call us on 01323 438743 or send us a message via the website - we would be delighted to hear from you!
